Enjoy the Offseason!

So it happened: the long season has drawn to its inevitable close, as October rolls into November. Sports radio frequencies are littered with discussions of quarterback ratings, and of backup point guards. Even horseracing. But precious little on baseball.

After all of the pomp and circumstance- the obsessive checking of ESPN since pitchers and catchers in mid-February, and the daily ups and downs of a long season- the St. Louis Cardinals are the 2006 World Series Champions. A historically-storied franchise, and in recent history perennial postseason contender. Cy Young and MVP two years in a row from the Redbirds? It could happen. Yet, we are left with the feeling that this championship was their least deserved. They didn't win it so much as their competition, one by one, lost it or gave it away. But that's playoff baseball- get your hand in the cookie jar and you may find yourself the one clutching the trophy in the end.

We had a great year here at Nothing beats being able to talk baseball on a daily basis, and it was a lot of fun doing it for such a supportive and knowledgeable readership. Long-time columnists, along with first-timers, wrote about any number of issues related to baseball- baseball in pop culture, baseball decisions and baseball trends, among others. Each columnist with his or her unique point of view- we are medical students, an attorney, several MBA graduates, a few other master's degree holder, an undergrad and a fanatic's wife... we hope that this interesting mix made for even more interesting reading.

That being said, we couldn't thank our columnists enough, whose regular efforts allowed us to publish unique baseball thoughts everyday during this crazy 2006 season. Coming up with a new column every week or every other week is a lot harder than it sounds! And they did a great job. Feel free to peruse the archives to relive the highs and lows of the season.

We won't be keeping up our daily columns during the offseason- mostly because there just isn't enough baseball to talk about. Rest assured, to find us back here in 2007, when pitchers and catchers meet in the southern parts of the US, and regular baseball chatter returns to the sports airwaves. Sure, Spring Training may seem like a lifetime away- but in reality it is only a bit over three months in the future. Besides, we'll be hearing about offseason aquisition rumors long before that to occupy our time.

Thanks again for a great season- see you in 2007.

While the Cards did not have a great regular season, to say they were handed the title downplays the effort of Eckstein and Weaver. The fact that Eckstein has titles with two different teams is not a coincidence.

Not sure where to post this but I wanted to ask if anyone has heard of National Clicks?

Can someone help me find it?

Overheard some co-workers talking about it all week but didn't have time to ask so I thought I would post it here to see if someone could help me out.

Seems to be getting alot of buzz right now.
